Steve Phillips pulled off a move he was notoriously against in his tenure as GM of the Mets in his recent sex scandal…
He went younger!
Mets fans everywhere would expect Phillips to go after a crafty veteran girlfriend, way past her prime, but he shocked the world picking up a young, unproven, and highly untouted addition to his line up instead.
Oh Steve…
If only your baseball savvy was as strong as your life savvy…
I’ll certainly miss you during those nationally televised games I’m forced to watch when I’d much rather be listening to Gary, Keith, and Ron.
I, like I’m sure a lot of people, have been scouring the internet for a picture of Phillips’ now estranged wife, but have been unsuccessful.
Just picking one of Phillips trades out of a hat for comparison purposes…
In 2002 Phillips traded away Jason Bay and two others to the Padres for Jason Middlebrook and Steve Reed. Middlebrook pitched in eight games as a Met before fading to obscurity, and Reed pitched in 24 games, but left the team for free agency at the end of the season.
Using a simple comparison, I have made a guess as to what Phillips’ wife must look like.

Don’t forget, the new word coming out is that Phillips almost got Jose Cruz Jr. from the Blue Jays in exchange for a 19 year-old, but J.P. Ricciardi rejected the trade because he didn’t want to give up major league talent for some low-Single A player named David Wright.
Since he never actually made the trade, I chose not to use it for my example… I love the fact that I might never hear his voice call a baseball game again
my theory is he was hoping this brooke girl was somehow, someway related to todd hundley and he really wanted to screw that guy over again. there’s much joy in my heart that espn will feel it necessary to fire him and i can go back to watching baseball tonight and the sunday night games; however, it’s just as likely the mlb network would find reason to pick him up soon after completely ruining a nice place to get baseball info with someone who knows nothing about the game.
I don’t think MLB will hire him. Harold Reynolds is a much better baseball personality.
…for someone who got into trouble with a sexual encounter.
Just wanted to pass on the any MEtS fans our Shea Stadium Web page for those interested: http://www.MrSheaStadium.com
