Another “Murphy’s Law” Day

I don’t know what to think anymore.

I’m usually a very positive, optimistic Mets supporter, but I feel like the you-know-what has hit the fan today.

Murphy’s got a sprained MCL and is out 2-6 weeks. Reyes will begin the season on the DL. Mejia is going to be on the Opening Day roster.

The Mets just continue to cross their signals between Omar, Jerry, the “unnamed player” in the clubhouse, and pretty much everyone in the organization on a daily basis.

It’s frustrating. But as Matt Pignataro just pointed out on Twitter, it really might be time to blow up this organization.

It’s too disorganized, and every day the Mets subject themselves to an ungodly amount of ridicule from anyone. The Pirates and Royals know their organizations suck. But at least they know how they run. The Mets organization is a rambling, circus-like madhouse. I’m tired of all the ridicule from Yankee fans, Phillie fans, and everyone else in baseball who realizes the Mets run themselves in stupid, stupid ways.

I don’t like drawing these posts out, I just try to display this concentrated frustration I have.

So much has happened in the last three years, and the diehard Mets fans are as loyal as ever. It’s not fair to keep screwing us. Furthermore, the park will not be full this year, which I hate to see. There’s nothing like a good atmosphere. 2006 was like that. The fans were into it, they were all cheering and chanting, always. From the “Jose” chant, to “Let’s go Mets (WHO?),” it’s just tiring to deal with all this stuff. I usually keep my head up, but days like this are hard.

At this point, the things I have confidence in are as follows…
-The food at Citi Field
-David Wright’s power coming back (5 dingers in Spring Training)
-Jason Bay being good
-K-Rod bouncing back

And that’s about it. Santana has stunk this Spring. Perez, Maine, and Pelfrey have been just as bad. Why do we always have to look at the silver lining? Sure, Ollie’s control has been better, but his command of the strike zone has been godawful, and he looks worse than ever. Maine is no longer fooling anyone with his stuff, and seems mentally weak. Pelfrey is a sinkerballer, and he’s given up 8 homers in 20 Spring innings. That’s 80 in a full season!

I don’t like seeing the young Mejia in the majors. I’m not sure yet whether he’s a reliever or a start, but it’s too soon to decide. Keep him down there. See how he does starting a full year in Binghamton. I don’t know.

I’m fed up. But I’m going to stay loyal and keep watching like always.

Starting on the second game of the season (because I won’t be able to on Opening Day) we’ll be giving you pre-and post-game posts with lineups and analysis. We’ll also have weekly “deeper analysis” or recaps. Something like that. So look forward to it.
