I’m not sure what’s worse when you’re talking about John Maine; his attitude or his pitching.
Maine put up another stinker of an effort today, going three innings giving up seven hits, eight runs and three walks. His body language on the mound leads you to believe he’d rather be getting root canal than starting games in New York.
I turned the game off after the six run third inning, where the Rockies put all six across the plate with two outs. Maine hurt his own cause with a costly error plated the final two. Fernando Tatis’ questionable defense at first base contributed to the bad play by Maine. It seems that building a team around pitching and defense, as Omar Minaya claimed he was going to try and do this season, was a complete failure.
Here’s to better days for Mets fans everywhere.
If you’re feeling as disgruntled as I am, and want to post some of those frustrations here, get in touch with me.

We ARE a bunch of losers and lunatics. Maine, Perez and the tall guy need shrinks, not coaches. I have never seen anything like it, and I have seen a lot. I agree that this year does not have the ingredients for anything but despair. I am afraid that the Wilpons do not have the baseball vision to put the administrative and managerial pieces in place. Today I am going to Yankee Stadium for the 2d time in my 63 years. I hope I leave a fan.
I went off on the Mets for an hour on my radio show today. It’s all pretty much out of me, but all I can say is that we didn’t deserve this.
However, Mark, you’re crazy to turn on the Mets to become a Yanks fan. I decided yesterday I’m going to be a Twins fan if I ever quit on this team (which will never happen). However, it’s a slap in the face to put so much time into this team to just get so disappointed.
BOTTOM LINE IS EVERY SEASON FROM HERE ON OUT WILL BE A LONG SEASON UNTIL MANAGEMENT DECIDES THAT ITS TIME TO BRING IN A GROUP OF GUYS THAT ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT WINNING AND HAVE A HEART BEATING IN THEIR CHEST. ILL ALWAYS ROOT FOR MY GUYS BUT WHEN I FEEL LIKE MYSELF AND MY FELLOW MET FANS HAVE MORE FIRE INSIDE THAN THE PLAYERS IT JUST DONT SIT RIGHT WITH ME
I think the guys on the team have the will to win, but the organization as a whole right now has a “stink” of losing that won’t go away until things are shaken up from the top down.
