The Mets trounced the Orioles today by an 11-4 margin to run their record to 35-28. They have won four straight and eight of nine.
The Mets scored five runs in the first thanks to bombs from David Wright and Chris Carter. Mike Pelfrey looked shaky early, giving up three runs in the first three innings, but settled down to pitch six innings of three run ball. The Mets poured it on late-Jason Bay added four hits, one of them a solo shot (his first road dinger of the year), and David Wright added a second two-run shot.
Speaking of Wright, since May 20, he has swung and missed at 7.5% of pitches compared to 12.5% up until that point in the season. 7.5% is his career average. The power is back as is the batting average. I hope…and I BELIEVE…that David Wright has finally returned.
The Mets head to Cleveland to start a series on Tuesday against the Indians. I would sign for a series win. Johan will start on Tuesday, and hopefully the Mets can be 37-29 as they head into a massive series against their rivals from the Bronx.
Let’s go Mets!
