Reyes not ready yet, but…El Esta Aqui!

The Mets will have to wait a day for their true lineup to take form for the first time in 2010. Tonight, Carlos Beltran returns in the cleanup spot, with Angel Pagan shifting over to right, and Jeff Francoeur FINALLY taking his seat on the bench.

The lineup is this:

1. Pagan RF
2. Cora 2B
3. Wright 3B
4. Beltran CF
5. Davis 1B
6. Bay LF
7. Thole C
8. Tejada SS
9. Dickey P

I like Dickey starting the series, but I’m not too sure about how the Mets have set up their rotation: in the next 5 days, they will go Dickey, Niese, Santana, Pelfrey, Takahashi. They are trying to get their starters as much rest as possible, and Pelfrey needs that for sure. But Santana usually isn’t at his best on extra rest.

I hope that Thole has pretty much cemented himself as the primary backstop, because Blanco is a consistent backup, and at this point, I don’t think Barajas should be on the team.

I also hope Ruben Tejada continues to play second base, even when Luis Castillo returns, because I like the idea of a young, mostly homegrown lineup. I know Tejada’s bat has not been there, but his defense has been stellar.

Let’s go Mets!
